MAGNA-MOUNT sheets are not sheet magnets. They look like sheet magnet but are more like flexible sheets of white self-adhesive backed steel. Sheet magnets have millions of steel particles that are magnified by passing them through an electromagnetic field. Sheet magnets have alternating North and South lines of magnetic attraction that run from one end of the roll to the other like the lines on a sheet of paper. All magnets are attracted to each other by opposite poles. In other words, the North pole lines match up to and stick to the South pole lines of magnetic attraction in sheet magnet. If you placed two pieces of sheet magnet against each other, they would stick but not until they "shifted" slightly to the right or left to line up the lines of opposite magnetic attraction. Sheets of magnet placed with their lines of magnetic attraction at right angles to each other would not stick at all. They would merely slide apart and fall.

This magnetic "shifting" was a problem that lead us to design MAGNA-MOUNT material. MAGNA-MOUNT material comes in sheet form, white vinyl on the front and self-adhesive on the back. It looks like sheet magnet and is flexible but it is not magnified like the sheet magnet. The iron particles in MAGNA-MOUNT sheeting attract sheet magnets evenly at any place you choose to mount it. There is no shifting and magnets stick strong and tight to MAGNA-MOUNT permanently. If you use self-adhesive backed sheet magnet on a wall to mount other magnets, there is a danger of destroying the magnetic lines of attraction and permanently altering the sheet magnet. That’s why we developed MAGNA-MOUNT material.
